Support for Audacity

Kingdom Media Center now has integrated support for Audacity

In order for KMC to work with Audicity follow these steps:

1. Download and install KMC 2.4 from here
Uninstall previous KMC version if you have an older version already installed

2. Dowanload and install Audacity 1.2.6 from here or here

3. Take note of the intallation location for Audacity

Likely path and executable names are:

    C:\Program Files\Audacity\audacity.exe    (for 32 bit systems)

    or

  C:\Program Files (x86)\Audacity\audacity.exe    (for 64 bit systems)

4. Edit the KingdomMediaCenter.ini file by clicking Start>Documents>Right click KingdomMediaCenter.ini >Open or Edit

It will look something like this:

*********************************************************************
*********************************************************************
****                                                             ****
**** Kingdom Media Center initialization file... DO NOT DELETE!! ****
****                                                             ****

Add two new lines to the file, the second line may need to be like the second example shown above in step 3 with the (x86) if being installed on a 64 bit system.

[Audacity]
C:\Program Files\Audacity\audacity.exe

The new KingdomMediaCenter.ini file should now look something like this:

5. Save changes to ini file: click >File>Save the >File>Exit

6. Start KMC 2.4, now you should see an Audacity path and executable entry on the Settings tab and an Edit Audio File button on the Manage Recordings tab

7. Click on a recording then click the Edit Audio File to make sure the MP3 file opens in Audacity

8. Set MP3 quality setting in Audacity: click >Edit>Preferences then click the File Formats tab then in the MP3 Export Setup section change the Bit Rate setting to 96 (per direction from the branch)

9. From the same dialog box set the MP3 Library Version: click >Find Library button click>Yes to locate the lame_enc.dll. Navigate to C:\Program Files\Kingdom Media Center or C:\Program Files (x86)\Kingdom Media Center and then click on lame_enc.dll then click the Open button in the lower right. Then click the OK button in the Audacity Preferences dialog box.

10. Close Audacity, click No to not save changes before closing, this is related to creating an Audacity project, not the changes we just made.

11. Done...  :-)
